Inferior complexity

Today I read a news about a Singaporean beauty pageant, she decided to quit her competition due to credit card fraud she made, beside this, people also commented abt her poor and put in youtube for public humiliation.

So she don't speak fluent English, so deserved to be humiliated?

I noticed most Asian has this inferior complexity. They would not feel proud (not ego) of their language but feel ego about their fluent foreign's language. If you out of curiosity ask them if they know much about their ancestor, shamelessly, they will just shake their head.

Additionally surprising, they shame of their own name, so they add a Western name or Christian name, whatever you call it, they said it is for convenient, or easy to be remembered. Ok, if you work in their country, I suppose the answer is reasonable, but you work in your very own country! Oh, because I have international clients. Ok, so do the Westerners, the Westerners that work in a country like China, Korea or Japan, their Westerner's name is not easily be pronounced, but you never or hardly see them put an Asian name for Asian easy to remember or call him/her.

Worst still, I read newspaper - The Star, every now and then, you will see some readers snapped some notice board or advertisements that have broken English grammar or spelling. I always curious if they kind hearted enough to tell the owner that his/her English is not correct or just to show his/her ego that someone who is not living in a country that speak good English, therefore it should be publicly humiliated, in this case in a newspaper.

Asian, if not all but most, shame of their identity, those who don't speak English well, they will shy away, and those who speak fluent English will talk louder than an amplifier.

I had a chance in a seminar met a Latino, we had some casual chit chat about seminar's topic, out of sudden, he told me that Spanish is one of the widest spoken language beside Chinese, I am not sure about the answer, but I am sure he is proud of what he is speaking. I think so does French.

So, every now and then if I do meet a Chinese that talk loud English and has no respect of his/her surrounding people, I will ask a question, "Do you know what country had the first practice of modern vaccination?" If no, then shame on you!!!
