Only a few great person that I know think out of the box...
1) Albert Einstein - Everyone know his scientific contribution, from E=mC2, photoelectric, etc
2) Galileo Galilei - He without modern instrument, observed Earth in fact orbiting the Sun
3) Charles Darwin - Life must go thru harsh evolution and selection
....
All these great people seem has the following Kalama (羯臘摩經) sutra, which I came across. The sutra's points as:
- Don't believe in anything simply because you heard;
- Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations;
- Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumored by many;
- Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books;
- Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders;
This sutra also call "Buddha's charter of free inquiry". So this free inquiry, without simply make conclusion, help us advance.
I always remember this simple points; yet not easy to achieve to do in my daily life.

I don't exactly follow the Kalama sutra but there's a lot of the points inside that I already am following - I tend to be a person who prefers to see the truth for myself up front than listen to what people say. :)
That way at least I can say I have known it upfront. :)
Thank you for the respond, mind to kindly share what exactly mean by "not follow"?
